Mini Retro Review: Diary of a Sex Addict (2001) #badmovies

Diary of a Sex Addict
2001
Drama

Starring the known Rosanna Arquette, who had a relatively modest movie career in the 1980s somewhat and Nastassja Kinski who appeared in Terminal Velocity and Fathers' Day with Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, this is a tame attempt of a Hollywood film but of which is really a cheap Z-list schlock. It looks like a TV movie and it looks low grade, the sexual acts are poorly depicted & of the violent nature and the script is wretched and wooden, as the chef guy who looks 60, humps pretty much every attractive looking woman he comes across. Even though he is the main character, he is unlikable. & dare I say it, they could have got another actor, who is better looking. Kinski cannot pass herself off as a therapist and I didn't buy her as one. For a movie with sex in the title, there is virtually little nudity. & although its intention is to show the effects of sex addiction, the way it comes across cheapens it and lessens the impact of the theme. Tries to be soft porn, but fails & with no depth and the drama is not believable and weak. I stopped watching it after 40 mins.

Is It Worth Watching?

Nope and it's so incredibly tedious it is yet another one of the worst movies I've had the misfortune of seeing

Overall:
