Mini Retro Review: Showdown (1993) #badmovies

Showdown aka American Karate Tiger
1993
Martial Arts/ Drama

Watered down fusion of Karate Kid meets Saved By The Bell, this film just didn't work for me, as the story was bland and the characters just weren't interesting enough to make it fully watchable & it needed more Billy Blanks. A kid at school gets bullied and with the help of a mentor, who teaches him martial arts, he builds up confidence and takes on the bully & defeat him, which he does in the end. The fight scenes, but for Billy's were okay at best. This is a bit of a surprise given it was directed by Robert Radler of Best of The Best 1 and 2, which I found enjoyable. The main star is the guy who played Raphael in 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. But this came off as too corny.

Is it worth watching?

Too dull, action needed to have been better and there wasn't more of it, so for me, it wasn't

 Overall:
