Matter Of Trust
1998
Drama
The film opens with an awkward scene with a serial killer bumping off hookers in a neighbourhood. A prosecutor receives death threats and ignores them, but when her husband disappears & someone blackmails her, she turns to a homicide detective, who is also a former lover of hers for help. The tension throughout is sterile and not convincing, ET & Red Dawn's C. Thomas Howell's beard looks awfully weird on him and doesn't suit him and I couldn't buy himself and Joan Severance as lovers. The thrills and the story also fail to generate any interest and watchability, the performances are as expected for a Z-movie & no sooner does the film descend into complete schlock. Matter of Trust has all the trappings of an erotic thriller, but for one element that is missing: erotic softcore sex scenes. Still, there wasn't much thought gone into the story to make me feel like I want to care what happens.
Is It Worth Watching?
No
